▪︎GREG ABATE▪︎
Jazz saxophonist, flutist and composer continues as an International Jazz/Recording Artist with 225 days a year touring the globe!

In the mid 70’s after finishing a four year programme at Berklee College Of Music, Greg played lead alto for the Ray Charles Orchestra for 2 years.

In 1978 Greg formed his group Channel One which was a favorite in the New England area and from there had the opportunity to play tenor sax with the revived Artie Shaw Orchestra under leadership of Dick Johnson from 1986 to ’87.

Following this experience Greg ventured out as post hard bop soloist playing Jazz Festivals, Jazz Societies and Jazz Clubs throughout the U.S. Canada and abroad, including most of Europe, UK, and Moscow and Georgia Russia.

Greg’s newest release Gratitude, with the Tim Ray Trio has received glowing reviews and a lot of international airplay. Also, check out Greg’s other recordings including special guests Phil Woods and other notable artists.

Greg is currently a Whaling City Sound recording artist.

Greg recorded his first CD Live At Birdland NYC in 1991 on the Candid Jazz Label with the trio of James Williams, Rufus Reid and Kenny Washington.
To this date Greg has recorded over 17 other recordings as leader.
Greg is also an adjunct professor of Jazz Studies at Rhode Island College and is also a very active jazz clinician with co. sponsorship from the Conn-Selmer Instrument Co., conducting workshops and master classes through the U.S and abroad.
Greg has been inducted into the RI MUSIC HALL OF FAME 2016.

▪︎TIM AMANN▪︎
A History graduate of Cambridge, and a full-time teacher of History and
Politics, Tim is a well-established jazz pianist and band leader in the West Midlands, who, over many years has played and composed for the Walsall Jazz Orchestra and Andy Hamilton’s Bluenotes.

Tim’s Xtet group was first formed in the 1990s to
perform a range of mainly original material that has won loyal audiences
and critical recognition far and wide. With this group he has recorded
three albums, toured and recorded in Germany, Switzerland and twice in
Russia and Scotland!

Tim has performed with several American and British stars including Art Farmer, David Murray, Greg Abate, Scott Hamilton, Courtney Pine, Art Themen and performed at The Montreux Jazz Festival and at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s!

▪︎THOMAS MARSH▪︎
Originally from St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Thomas Marsh is an up and coming bassist and composer, now based in Birmingham. He is influenced by a wide range of music from folk, rock, and blues, to all forms of jazz, including musicians such as Charles Mingus, Julian Lage, and John Martyn. Having graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2023, he has been going from strength to strength. Releasing his debut album ‘What’s Wrong With Rain?’ on July 8th 2023, playing the Lava International Jazz Festival in The Azores, Portugal, and most recently having the opportunity to record with his new collaborative trio project at Abbey Road Studios.

During his time at the conservatoire, alongside being co-host of Jazz at The Ruin, Digbeth, he has had the opportunity to play with and learn from many of the greats of the UK and international jazz scene – as well as at prestigious venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall, and the Cheltenham Jazz Festival with the Parabola Quintets. “We feel that this musician has things to say and we are already impatient to see the artistic direction he will take.” – Camille Dal’Zozo, (2023) ‘Lava jazz en essor aux Açores’, Citizen Jazz, “I really enjoyed it. ▪︎AIDAN AMANN▪︎

While studying with UK jazz greats including Clark Tracey and Andrew Bain at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Aidan has been performing regularly around the midlands and beyond.

Since his early gigs with his father, pianist Tim Amann, Aidan has gone on to play with the best up and coming talent in the country and a range of top British players including Simon Spillet, Bruce Adams and Alan Barnes at prestigious venues such as Peggy’s Skylight, 1000 Trades and also at one of the UK’s leading jazz festivals in Cheltenham with members of the Siena Conservatory and not to mention performances in Paris with a contemporary classical and jazz project in 2023, led by composers Sebastien Gaxie and John O’Gallagher!
